Report back from the Zapatista Women’s International Gathering

In early March four of us from Southern Illinois flew to Chiapas to attend the First International Gathering of Politics, Art, Sport, and Culture for Women in Struggle. The event was organized and hosted by Zapatista women from autonomous Zapatista caracoles from all over Chiapas. It was, in short, a gigantic 3-day session of networking, learning, theater, teaching, sharing, and also playing, dancing and singing because as the Zapatista women say, there needs to be more to life than work. This is our own first reunion since the trip; join us for images, films, stories and ideas, and hopefully an initial exploration of questions and commitments that might be drawn from the principles and contexts that led to such a gathering of activist women from all over the world. With Jessica Allee, Jessica Lynn, and Sarah Lewison. This is a potluck In the spirit of self organization, please bring a dish or beverage to share!! At 116 Washington Street.
