Required Book

Required:
Visual Storytelling: Videography and Post Production in the Digital Age, by Ronald J Osgood and M. Joseph Hinshaw

Other Recommended Books

Recommendations for General Production Guides:
There are many guides available to video production with various strengths. The Osgood book is focused on storytelling and aesthetics. You can find a lot of technical help online, but here are also some decent books.
Introduction to Video Production: Studio Field and Beyond by Compesi and Gomez

The Art of Video Production by Leonard C. Shyles. Nicely written, with useful information pertinent to migration to digital environments.

Video Production Handbook, Third Edition (Paperback) by Gerald Millerson. This is available used at good prices, and covers all material needed for field and studio production. Some class readings are drawn from this book.

Television Production, Thirteenth Edition (Paperback) by Gerald Millerson. This is a big fat book with lots of information for reference.
